Tips from a Tree Expert on How to Choose the Right Christmas Tree

The tree expert at Five Star Tree LLC says you should always look for a tree which is freshly cut and has bright, shiny needles. Also, give the branches a quick shake, when a lot of the needles fall off, then the tree is past its sell-by date. Also, you need to measure the space you want to put your tree before you leave the house, as it can be quite hard to estimate a tree’s size visually. And remember to factor in the trees stand, as it can often add another 6″ to the height.

Wear gloves, when you can transport the tree, so you do not prick your hands, always wear gloves, as some trees’ needles can be quite sharp. There are various Christmas trees available, all have different looks, and some more than others will drop their needles, we have listed the top 4 below.

1. Norway Spruce, this has a pyramid shape and does drop its needles.

2. Nordmann Fir, this has dark green foliage and soft leaves and is suited to fewer decorations. A popular choice as it holds its needles better.

3. Blue Spruce, this is quite elegant and has natural blue foliage.

4. Fraser Fir, this is leaner in shape and has denser foliage, which is ideal in smaller rooms.

Positioning and decorating

1. Make sure you choose a well-lit spot to put your tree so it will stand out and be noticed better.

2. Never put it anywhere where either excited children or pets will crash into your masterpiece.

3. Never put it next to either radiators and fireplaces, not only will they dry the tree out, but are also a fire hazard

4. Display larger decorations on branches evenly around the tree from top to bottom, and repeat this with smaller ones, this will create a more even spread.
